I'll be posting up rides this week. Been a bit hectic. Don't forget to send Alan your $$ for the BBQ and Saturday dinner.

We do usually get out for a good long spin on Friday. Distance and direction depends on weather and who's riding! I'll have options set up by Wed or Thursday and post some here!

See y'all in a week and change!

Sorry Jamie, but I'm bowing out. 1400 mile round trip is too far to go just to get soaked!
For those intrepid souls who still go, I do hope the forecast is wrong and you can say "See?...."
VA has been getting drenched from the tropical system for days now, and it looks to be headed your way.

The ride may be fun, but in the Great Scheme of things, it really is about the destination! John 3:16

Sorry to hear, Bob. But I guess it is a hike to get wet, eh? While every BTB has a bit of the liquid falling, I've only been washed out once. 250 miles into the Adirondack with my wife on pillion, chasing 6 or so Street/Speed Triples, a Daytona and a couple Tigers. Gave her my modular, and I only had my 1/2 helmet. Nothing like the sandblasting sensation on the face, of driving rain at 90mph!!!! They were all astonished that my Storm and I could keep up, 2-up in the wet!!!!

FWIW - my Accuweather app is showing a chance of a shower late Thu and again Fri morning. If Saturday looks a bit wetter, based on path of that subtropical douchebag Alberto, we'll head north and west....away from it, and enjoy sun and fun in the Adirondacks!!!!

Sunday looks cooler, but dry, too! Further south, the sunnier it's supposed to be.

Of course, yesterday morning, Thu-Mon all showed upper 70's and sunny, so this will all change tomorrow.

The weather sounds like an inherent problem this time of year. "Too Broke for Sturgis" in AZ had a similar issue (the monsoons) until they changed the rally date. ...something to consider.

No worries Bob, I can't make it either

Hey Jamie - I'm bowing out as well. Weather.com forecast shows we would be riding in rain on the way up, and it shows Friday and Saturday as WET! I'm cancelling my hotel now. Can I get a refund for the two dinners?

Accuweather still not showing more than a passing shower on Fri and again early Sat. Sunday would have been your driest ride home, EVER!!!

In fact, Accuweather forecast for the Upstate NY, VT and Northern NH area is improving....but you might get wet part of the way up Thursday?

You'll have to reach out to Alan and Mark about $$. Everything had to be paid in advance to order the Pig/Chicken for Fri, and headcount for the country club Saturday????

Sorry we'll miss you John! If we miss the record by 1 Tbird, we're all coming to find you!!! If we miss it by TWO, we'll find you, then head to VA to get our mitts on Bob!!!

Jamie,

I am out as well. I looked at this long and hard and the weather looks awful. Not an easy decision. If anyone is looking for me I will be on the roof of my house ready to jump as I can't take any more of this shitty weather.

Last time I ckecked, I don't actually melt in the rain, and neither does the bike.
In fact I think the bike likes it, must be a reminder of home.

I will be up sometime thurs.

Myself and another member on the forum from PA are planning a a few rides in PA end of June and forward. Wanted to see the train museum and also revisit Oley. If you think you may want to join in then be heard.

For anyone that cancelled, you can now reconsider.

Bennington area forecast (even better forecast north and north west, where most of our riding would be).

Thursday - 76F, with an afternoon shower in spots.
Friday - 81F, mostly cloudy with a shower or thundershower around (but Adirondacks are sunny and high 70's)
Saturday - 77F, mostly sunny and less humid
Sunday - 73F, partly cloudy and sunny, pleasant

Since there's always rain on the ride to or from Bennington, this might be the best forecast in my 7 years doing it. For all you PA boys, I checked various cities along the way to Bennington....all call for a "shower in spots".

HARDLY AN AWFUL FORECAST! And the earlier you leave, the better the forecast is with respect to rain probability!!! Put on your big boy britches, cover up with rain gear for contingency, and see us in Bennington!!!!

Yeah...it's a couple things, Fab.

First, meteorologists just suck titties. Where else can you be wrong 50% of the time, and still get paid!

Second, if you polled ALL motorcyclists in the US, you'd probably find at least 50% that hate or completely avoid riding in the rain. Of course, if they're HD riders, that's probably more like 95%....cuz they don't want to spend all day polishing after it gets wet.

If it's raining or looks like rain on my work commute, usually I'll just cage it. But if it's raining or forecast to rain on my way to or from a group meetup on the bike, I RIDE!! The only thing I hate is being COLD AND WET! So cool temps and rain, maybe not. I hate being cold and wet....too many field ops in the shitty weather to want to do it for fun!!!

But for this Bennington weekend, the weather is only "sketchy" on Thu afternoon or Fri morning...depending on where you'd be coming from. Couple guys were looking at 700 miles each way. I kinda get not wanting to be soaked for 700 miles. But a few others (not on here) bailed because of a "passing shower" in the forecast for their 3hr ride! Send a batch of those Harden The Fuck Up pills to the NYC area!!!

And since I'm trying to get as many Tbirds together as possible for this shindig, it is disheartening when guys have to bail. Especially knowing just how many Birds are within a 4-5hr ride of the spot! You Aussies amaze me with how many Birds you get together...and some cross the freakin' entire CONTINENT of Australia to be there (rain, heat, dingos and Roos be damned!!!!).

Still gonna be a great weekend. But I'll miss a couple of the "veterans", as well as a few new faces that opted out. Off to mow the lawn, take care of the rest of my "honey do list", and then bug out.

Jamie

PS - All that....and I've only got a 45 minute ride to this thing!!!! It could be friggin' SNOWING and I'd still be there!!!!

Only shot I got was at Friday's lunch. I was having too much fun chatting with some new folks (only 1 new Tbird) as well as old friends. As my 7th Bennington Triumph Bash, this was probably the most fun one I've experienced. AND it was the best weather weekends we've had in a long time.

We had about 2 hours of rain after midnight Thursday into Friday morning, so the bikes and roads were a tad damp as we took off Friday morning. But we headed North/West into New York, and 10 minutes in and the roads were dry. Clouds parted, and we had sun the entire rest of the day! About 180 miles or so on Friday.

Saturday morning, temps were cooler (mid 60's) but clear and dry. So we wandered up the western side of VT, and stopped in Poultney, VT for a much needed pee break. Being a small VT town, only one gas station...and it was during a neighborhood garage/yard sale. The gas station parking lot was loaded with 1979-83 Honda CB's...750, 900 and 1100F's!!!! All beautifully restored and some modified. That was at 10am, and they already had about 250 miles under their belt for the day....with 200 more in the plan!!!! So needless to say...it was a LONG piss break.

We then wandered east across VT, winding up at what seems to be Bennington Tbird Bash owner's favorite lunch stop....Long Trail Brewing. Still cool in the mountains, but mostly clear skies.... Zig-zagged south, east, west, south....all the way back down to southern Vermont....then ice cream (since I got yelled at for missing ice cream on Friday!!! )!!!! Wandered back to Bennington in time for beers, a shower (separately, of course) and off to dinner with the rest of the gang.

All told, we were right around 70 bikes/riders....down a few from previous years. For Thunderbird counting-purposes, we only had 8...yep, EIGHT!! Of the 6 or more that had to cancel for weather, would have put us at over 14....a prior "record" in the US. Oh well!

Those that made it....thank you! And they all made it a great weekend!!! Missed some old faces! But met a new one....hopefully, he'll be joining the tb1600.com family soon! And his wife rides a new Bobber!!!!

Here's the only group shot, of us early arrivals saying "hi" to those that bailed on Thursday!

We were going to put on our rain gear, but seeing how we never needed it, we couldn't find it anywhere!!!!

Hope some of the other guys (Hobbes, Ger413 or BeatyKM) have some other photos. My few pics are too big to load easily....since my newer laptop has some shit software for photo editing). Will try to resize offline when I get a chance.

Shit I missed a good time. No it wasn't the weather. The state is holding my license for ransom. I am retired now so in a few weeks I can ride again. Keep that in mind if you are in the area and are interested for a ride. Here is a pic for MV
